Ogden Newspapers New Press Operations

Ogden Newspapers
New Press Operations
Wheeling, West Virginia

In just nine months, an extremely dilapidated steel company building constructed in 1890 was renovated and adapted to house a new printing press for The Ogden Newspapers. Idle for several years, the 128,000 SF building and grounds required a substantial amount of repair and renovation work. 218,000 SF of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel roofing and siding were used in the renovation. The project involved placing 463 CY of concrete, or 12,501 SF. JD&E designed and installed a "floating" concrete pad separate from the remainder of the building's floor to handle the weight of a new printing press.
